Horrible. The taco's were very bland, and the horchata was the worse I have ever had, I don't know how you mess up horchata but this place did. My friend had a chille reilleno burrito that was also sub par, I guess we should have expected the place to be not good w/ a name like burrito place.

I really like this place. Whenever I go theres only one guy that does everything and he's really nice. Everything is made fresh, cooked to order. There is even a regular kitchen oven/stove that he uses to prepare food. My favorite is the avocado torta but the vegetable burrito is a close second. The burrito has lots of vegetables like zucchini and broccoli. My boyfriend has had steak tacos and steak burritos and loves them. The chips are fantastic. They are fresh, literally right out of the fryer into a paper bag. Like other reviewers mentioned, the salsa is pretty spicy, but I like it. And the horchata is really good. I get it at least once a week. I'm slightly addicted. I changed my review from 4 to 5 stars because of how friendly and helpful the guy in there is. He remembers us and even noticed that we walk there, so he packs up the food extra secure for our walk home.

I tried Burrito Place for the first time this weekend with some friends from out of town. The cook was very efficient and had no problem with our special requests. Just the right amount of cilantro was used in the sauces. Small sides of pickled veggies were included at no extra cost. Warning- their salsa is HOT; beware if you are not a spicy food person. If you like your salsa tangy- then you will be very happy. I felt that everything we ordered was tasty and I was able to buy lunch for 4 adults for under $20.

I've driven past this place for years and decided to stop in for a steak taco dinner with rice and beans after reading some favorable reviews on here. Big mistake!! When I walked in I was encouraged because even though it's a small place there were people sitting down eating, but that's where the positives end. First let me say the steak tacos were decent, but the taco sauce (red) tasted like it was out of a can, the rice tasted like the kind that come in the bag that you just add water to and microwave. But the worst part were the refried beans.... They were the driest, thickest and most bland beans I've ever had. Maybe they were having an off day when I went but I won't be back to try it again, there's too many other Mexican joints in the area.

Consistently and successfully producing a high quality product for over 20 years. Owner/ cook takes your line order and personally cooks authentic Mexican faire. No extra charge to have the small TV turned on ;) no frills, simply good burritos and tacos.

We only recently discovered the Burrito Place, but have returned there several times already as it is that good! My favorite is the vegetarian burrito with fresh avocado. They cook and prepare everything fresh and to your taste when you order it. The burritos are large enough to fill up even the biggest appetite and healthy enough to enjoy relatively guilt free. Served up with a side of peppers, carrots and onions to add as desired they provide meal that keeps me coming back. Service is always friendly and the prices are tough to beat.

The real deal, so if you are not ready for authentic Mexican food, prepared as it should be, Taco Bell may be for you. Very small dining area and exceptionally clean kitchen area. If you don't care for onions be sure to tell them "no onions" when you order.

Another tiny restaurant that I love in this area. The chile relleno is the best.

I have been giving Burrito Place alot more business lately and sharing my experience with others. I will admit for a small taco shop these 2 guys kill it in the fresh game. I have not had a bad meal here. I have not had a cold or overcooked meal here. I usually dine in cause I enjoy watching the fellas work their kitchen magic. If you speak spanish the cook has some great stories while he is on the grill. I love their food but the stories are just as good too...LOL! Their red salsa has a slight garlic kick to it but no big deal once you drizzle it over the tacos. My suggestions -3 Steak Tacos with Fries -Steak Torta with a side of jalapenos and carrots -Chips & Guacamole -Burritos Their milkshakes are REALLY REALLY BIG and one size!!! So you better drink that last. Its delicious!

Burrito Place is as downscale of a Mexican restaurant can be for a suburb like Downers Grove, but the food is solid, which is what really matters. My one complaint is that for place which has a definite low-budget vibe and is in an aging strip mall, the prices seem high. I decided to get a burrito, which I figured was their specialty. The man who took my order (the owner?), quickly began preparing my food. The order of layers in the burrito was pretty standard... refried beans, steak, cheese, tomato and lettuce. I was supremely grateful that they didn't include any rice, ala Chipotle. I consider it a waste of valuable burrito real estate. I must say that the burrito was tasty, but at $6.50 was about a dollar more expensive than similar counter service Mexican restaurants in the area with nicer decor. Maybe they could drum up more business if they sold their food at below-market rates. I know I'd come back more often. Still, that burrito was pretty darn good.

Fantastic! A hidden gem. Huge burrito. The jalapeños and carrots are hot! Definitely a great place for authentic Mexican food.

This is a store front taco joint with a limited menu so you won't get an umbrella in your drink here. They have Taco 's, Burrito's and Tostada's and not much else except for the best damn tortilla chips I have ever had, the steak taco were pretty good and I would definetly come back here again, especially for those fresh made chips and salsa.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Downers Grove. Service is great! Their chiles rellenos are out of this world!!! My mouth waters just thinking about them and they're not spicy hot.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
